Molly Piper has written about all sorts of things. Sometimes she stays up long into the night with an idea, finding ways to share her thoughts and dreams and feelings . . . and sometimes the ideas get turned into books.

E-T My Bat - Molly’s first chapter book for children tells of several weeks in the life of a little girl and a rescued baby bat. Molly has shared this story with many thousands of elementary school kids, and even the coolest sixth graders loved hearing about the bat in her pocket, next to her heartbeat. E-T My Bat is full of wonderful things that happen in nature while most people are asleep.

The Magic Crayon was first created as a gift for a class of second graders - children Molly got to know as she helped them with their writing and drawing. One day, she wanted to give them a big surprise. She decided to write and illustrate a story about the children and their favorite things. The story begins when the teacher leaves the classroom, and one of the kids finds a glowing blue crayon on the floor. This book is a favorite of children whom Molly has visited all over the Pacific Northwest.

Piper’s book is adorned with vivid full color illustrations that add charm and mystic to the text. It is perfect for any age - children and adult. It would work well in a classroom setting, or during library storytelling hour. This reviewer highly recommends One Small Giggle.
