Who am I?
1. I’m Molly. Mostly, I’m just being me. I love red wine and playing in rain storms.

2. I’m a Christian. I believe in the love of God, sent through his son Jesus Christ, who sacrificed himself for the sins of the world so that, through him, we might have peace with God in this life and forever. We attend Hope Community Church, a really great church here in Minneapolis.
3. I’m a wife. I married a wonderful, brilliant man. I know that sounds weird to say, but…I did. And it’s a good thing it worked out well, since we hardly knew each other when we got married–we dated for two months and then were engaged for four. A whopping total of 6 months! Abraham’s really good at the internet, so he gets to blog for his job! He’s also the Community Manager for Abuyo, a company that does stuff on the internet that I don’t understand. He also likes red wine and playing in rain storms, so that’s convenient.

4. I’m a mom. I am the mother to 5 children.
Orison is our oldest. He was born in 2004, just after our first anniversary (yeah, we didn’t waste any time). Orison is full of life, imagination, passion, and music. He’s our little songsmith. He’s also a killer reader! Orison is finding his voice this year with the Minnesota Boychoir, and he absolutely loves it so far! He’s not as much of a fan of his piano lessons (mostly the practicing), but hey, second graders don’t know how awesome it is to be able to play the piano as adults.

Felicity is our second child, stillborn on September 22, 2007. She was 39 weeks and 4 days in my womb. Saying goodbye to her has been the heartbreak of my life. I did a lot of writing about her on this blog in the past. I haven’t written about Felicity much lately, but you’re more than welcome to read back over anything from that time in my life if it interests you.
Morrow is our third child, born in 2008 (11 months to the day after his sister was born). Having 2 babies in 1 year was killer, but this kid has been the beam of sunshine our family wanted and needed. Morrow is 4 years old and loves to identify letters and sounds, read books about superheroes, and pretend with his brother Orison.

AND…on August 2, 2010, we welcomed Cadence Felicity Piper and Whitsun Robert Piper to our family!

Raising twins is an insane amount of work and an insane amount of blessing. I remember my Uncle (who’s a linguist and missionary to Cameroon) telling me that, in Cameroon, there’s a special word for parents of multiples. Not just “mom” or “dad,” a completely different category.
Cadence is the gutsiest two-year-old I’ve ever encountered, and is my “runner.” She thinks it’s super funny to run away from people in public places and to be caught doing anything naughty. She’s also super tender to anyone with an “owie” and will kiss it again and again. It’s fun to have a daughter who wants to play babies. It just cracks me up to watch her practice being a momma! Sometimes I stand over her crib at night and marvel that I get to raise a daughter, finally.

Whitsun (Whit) rounds out the count at a whole five fingers. Number 5. Wow. Never thought I’d have five children. But Whit is seriously amazing. He was born a straight breech, and hasn’t stopped surprising me since! Whit is our quirkiest kid, for sure. He loves to attach himself to a new toy or book each day (usually one for each hand) and carry them around all day long. And if anyone tries to mess with him, look out. He loves to pretend he’s the Karate Kid or Batman or SuperWhy (not exactly threatening, but he doesn’t know that). He’s super moody, too, which is just hilarious. He tries my patience more than any other with is quirks and determination, but he also cracks me up all the time. Whitty Whit…what a joy you are.

5. I’m a child sponsor. Hector is our extended family member, and he lives in El Salvador. Our family has chosen to sponsor him through Compassion International. I had a chance to meet him in November 2009, on a Compassion Bloggers trip, and it was amazing. Part of what I did on the trip was blog! I’d love for you to read the posts from that trip, and think about child sponsorship through Compassion. It’s life-changing.

6. I’m a knitter. My favorite things to knit are socks, but I like everything else too. Baby knitting is great for the faster gratification. True confession: I’ve been knitting for years and I’ve never knit a blanket (too much commitment and too boring)! My favorite piece I’ve ever knit was for my daughter Felicity for what would have been her 4th birthday.
