Twin Strollers
So I got an email the other day asking me what double stroller I use for my twins. I was going to write that person back, but figured I might as well make it into a post!
Here’s what I used/use for twin strollers!
Infant Phase
When your babies are using the bucket car seats, it’s so nice to have a double Snap & Go stroller. Actually I’ll just go ahead and say it’s a necessity.

Because it’s really impractical to have to carry two infant car seats into the doctor, into the grocery store, anywhere really….
After you graduate from the infant seats, you move on:
Toddler Phase
I know there are so many options out there for a double twin stroller. This is only what I use. I chose to go with the Combi Twin Sport.
(except mine's red)
Here’s why I chose it:
- It’s a lot lighter than most double strollers.
- I like the side-by-sides (especially for twins, who I think will want to see each other, since they’re together all the time).
- It collapses pretty small (compared to other doubles) so you have more room in your trunk.
- It’s affordable.
I imagine some people object to the Combi because:
- The baskets underneath are small. (I remedy that with The Mommy Hook.)
- It doesn’t “handle” as well as some of the other high-end side-by-sides. I didn’t really care about that as much. If I lived in New York City and used my stroller daily, then perhaps it’d be worth the extra cash for better handling. Wasn’t worth it to me.
So there ya go! MollyPiper.com is (un)officially endorsing these products! ;)

(except mine's red)

First, I would like to thank you for your wonderful posts that are both transparent and encouraging. My wife and I never used the Infant phase stroller, however we did use the combi twin sport for the exact same reasons you mentioned. We could not stand the other strollers where one sibling is looking at the other one’s back while the one in the front gets the best view in the house. All that to say, great choice! God bless your beautiful family and your ministry!
Funny, I never really thought about them being able to see one another. Ours isn’t side-by-side, mostly because we figured they’re easier to navigate in a mall or anywhere else inside. I don’t think I have a strong preference though. I’ve tried running with them in the Graco DuoGlide that we have and it doesn’t work very well. Side-by-side is definitely the way to go for that.
I’ve actually seen a double stroller where the front seat can be switched to be facing backwards so two kids can see each other. It’s pretty cool! :) http://www.amazon.com/Eddie-Bauer-All-Terrain-Stroller-Collection/dp/B000K52H5Q
Isn’t it funny how we all become such stroller lovers after we have babies – and even more so with twins. I’m not sure if others with read this, but I wanted to state that Combi strollers are not for tall people. Honestly, I don’t think that anyone over 5’9″ could comfortably use one on a regular basis. So if anyone is tall or their husband isn’t on the shorter side, I wouldn’t use a Combi stroller. :) Other than that criticism, I have many friends who use them and love them.
You saying I’m short?! ;)
Totally agree with both of these suggestions (and I have two sets of twins). The other cool think about Combi side by sides is that you can get cup holders for the kids…SO helpful! Also, my Combi is an older model, but it’s the deluxe(?) and our baskets are huge. They don’t look like much but have an elastic piece around the tops that expands. We’ve fit a carry on suitcase in each basket. Maybe the baskets are bigger with the deluxe version (ok…anyone else have visions of Napoleon Dynamite now that I’ve said “deluxe” so many times?).
I also have a suggestion that is worth EVERY penny for those who might have a a set of multiples and another child close together who needs a triple or people like us with two sets of twins close together. Check out the Adventure Buggy Company (original designers of Phil & Teds) out of New Zealand. They have doubles, triples & quads available in several configurations. We have the quad (our older twins are about 2 years older than our youngers) and it’s the bomb.
I definitely agree with the comment above! I have a 2 yr old and 4 month old twin girls. My valco twin trimode with Joey toddler sear has saved me and is worth every penny. It is heavy (45lbs) but I can run with all 3 and easily navigate at a mall etc. I also have the ride along attachment for when my toddler is big enough and wants to just stand behind.
Does the Baby Trend double snap and go stroller accomodate Graco snugride carseats? Which carseats did you use with it? I read that one woman tried to use the Graco seats with this stroller and her twins outgrew it within 3 months because their legs/feet were too long and didn’t provide enough room for growth. Just wondering…what would work best for twins. We really like the Graco brand. Thanks for posting!
I agree on the Combi stroller. I had a new born and a 2 year old. It worked wonderful! It is also super easy to take apart and clean. All parts of fabric are machine washable. And the resale value is high. Bought it for $125(on sale plus a coupon and cash back through Kohls) and sold it a year later for $100. Not a bad deal!
Just HAD to say that the MOMMY HOOK is the secret to my survival on foot in oxford with two littles and no car. LOVE. IT. Some piker swiped it when we checked our stroller on the flight back from the USA recently and I was royally ticked and, money or no money, we had to order a new one. Can’t wait til it comes. (And seriously people who is stealing mommy hooks??? Some thieving mommy??)
That first stroller looks familiar! We used that with our twins too and loved it for the first year. We then purchased a Baby Jogger City Classic (I think it was called) stroller which cost an arm and a leg but was worth it. I liked taking mine “off roading” to work out on trails, etc. so investing in something like this was worth it for me to get exercise into my day.
