Checking In at 6 Weeks!
Last week I hurried up and snapped this, thinking, “Hurry, hurry! No one’s crying–take a picture!!!”

The babies are doing very well. They are growing and waking up a lot more. This week Cadence has even given us a couple smiles that seem voluntary rather than reflexive!
The babies are dropping one of their nighttime feedings, I think. The last couple nights they’ve slept and just woken up one time during the night. It makes such a difference, I feel like a new woman. But I hesitate to even type this, because you know what’s going to happen tonight…they’ll wake up every hour or something.
Last week I got mastitis for the first time in my career as a mother. On the whole, I don’t recommend it. Not a very fun time. I never could fully sympathize with friends who got it, but now…mother! It’s HORRIBLE!
Whit has reflux. He’s super fussy after feeding and very spitty-uppy. He’s now on Zantac, which won’t help the volume of spit-up, but will at least help with the pain.
I don’t have time to write much more right now. I hope all of you are doing well!

Oh, sorry on the mastitis! I’ve never had that, but have had clogged ducts, and bloody nipples. Any ailment with our boobs is brutal. Glad to hear feedings are slowing down at night. Hope the trend continues…I’ll pray that it does!
our preemie daughter had reflux pretty badly and was on zantac; and it was tough! i know you know, but it will eventually get better–we didn’t think it would ever end. glad the little guy has help. thanks for sharing your family…
They are so beautiful!
My best friend had mastitis repeatedly. It got to the point at any little bit of soreness she would massage the spot and it seems to help unclog the duct. Of course walking through Target absentmindly massaging her breasts made for lots of giggles on one of our girls’ night out!
O Molly! I just love you, and all your little kidlets! How do you find time to be blogging? Amazing!
Such a sweet picture! I had mastitis and it felt terrible! Antibiotics make a quick improvement, though. Both my kids spit up til past their first birthday! My younger still has the occasional spit-up at just about 13 months.
they are getting so big!
They are just too cute!
Ahh… mastitis. Oddly, I got it this spring when my daughter was already 10 months old. Seriously, can that even happen that far along?!? It did. And it was awful.
Have you ever tried gripe water? Old British remedy–they all give it to their babies. A British friend brought me some when my daughter was a baby, and the stuff was miraculous.
Glad you’re doing well!
Yes – I used gripe water a lot. My daughter started tooting minutes after gulping it down. Instant relief… might be worth a try? (From my experience the alcohol-less stuff doesn’t work quite as well – but better than nothing.)
6 Weeks already??? They look so big! I’m so sorry about the mastitis…boo. I had it twice, once with each baby (well three times if you count when I didn’t keep up with my antibiotics exactly right and it came back, ugg) I hope you have recovered. Isn’t it amazing how you feel when you actually sleep…at least a little bit? Thanks for the updates, praying for you!
I love them, Molly. So sorry about the mastitis and the reflux!
They are adorable, and filling out so quickly!
Doesn’t waking up one time versus 2-4 times make SUCH a difference? My 7-month-old still gets up to nurse once in 12 hours, but it’s so not a big deal. I hope and pray that keep sleeping well for you… and that the mastitis and reflux get better.
I am sad at heart to say I cannot relate to you regarding mastitis… not because I desire to experience it myself but because I cannot empathize and properly show you compassion as I feel a sister in Christ should. I will be praying though for your recovery and for relief from the “HORRIBLE” qualities of mastitis. I hope you feel better soon!
Kindest regards,
Brook
They are just amazing. Continuing to pray for your sweet family!
My preemie son had reflux as well. The Zantac didn’t help, but a version of Prilosec does! It reduced not only his pain but his frequency of spitting up as well. It saved our clothes and sanity!
The kiddos are looking sooo adorable!
I am just gushing to myself at how beautiful your little ones are! They are just precious. I can’t believe how big they’re getting…bet you can’t either. You’re doing great, Molly. God bless you and keep you and lead you gently as you love these precious two (and your other precious two!)
Hey Molly!! I wanted to let you know that my youngest daughter had reflux pretty bad as a baby. We got many recommendations to take her to a chiropractor for teeny tiny adjustments (scary I know when you think of how frail your little ones are BUT we did tons of research before). So we took her and after only 6 visits she was a brand new baby. We had tried the infant Zantac and it only seemed to sporadically work. Anyways, do some research and give it a try if you feel comfortable with it! It really was a lifesaver for both her and mommy :)
So good to hear the update… despite everything. :)
They’re beautiful, btw! :)
i miss them. i MUST come over to hold the babies soon! also, to make sure morrow hasn’t forgotten his Nenna!
I always likened mastitis (which I had TWICE after my second child was born) to being hit head-on by a Mac truck.. for a WEEK. All my friends would smile and nod at me in a pretty patronizing manner, thinking surely it wasn’t THAT bad. Then, over a period of years, they got it too… one by one. And then they wholeheartedly agreed with my assessment.
Glad to know you’re feeling better… and the babies are simply beautiful. :)

that’s exactly what i kept saying to molly. “all i remember is that i felt like i’d been hit by a truck.”
Oh my… I have had mastitis several times. Pretty much the sickest you’ll ever be in your life. It’s really miserable. I’m so sorry. I escaped it this time just barely. I can’t imagine having it with twins. I just can’t. Sorry on the reflux, too. I hope all is going well enough to be able to enjoy all this even though it’s really a lot!
I have been thinking about and praying for you and your family a lot this week. I pray that your “anniversaries” begin to have more sweetness mingled in with the bitterness. I am glad that you have a little girl and three little boys to hold in your arms, especially this week.
Wow! They are getting so big & they are soooo CUTE!!!!!
Post more pics if you have time to break away :)
Beautiful children; praying for you. Sleeping children are just one more example of God’s grace to weary parents.
Dear Molly,
I was touched with your twin pictures and the story of their delivery- the Lord gave me the same gift- we are so special that way. My delivery of twins (four years ago now) was so similar to yours- at 37 and 5, A: girl B: boy, B Breech extraction, nurses and doctors yelling at each other, huge mixup regarding epidural, fast labor progress, almost identical picture of Mommy holding both!! You don’t sleep for four months, then suddenly you do a little, for a couple more, then they are one and you are only concerned about them not eating indigestibles and bonking their heads…
they are sweet! And then they are four!
