I had a younger, unmarried, male friend do the same for me after my two year old passed away. It was compassion at its height that he cared enough to have read the book and entered into our grief. He was one of the few who understood more of the pain out of everyone who "tried", that had never lost a child.
I always read a book before I give it or loan it, because I like to read. Now I will do so to have compassion. Thank you for the reminder..

i dont know if your story counts but i have been reading from your first post and on. I hurt in ways i never knew i could. I am sick at the pain. In anger but yet calm with a sense of joy. I wrote a poem for my friend who lost her little boy by stillbirth just a month ago now. I have cried behind closed doors. I have not pressured . i have taken your advice to such a level as i live it daily. ask specific questions. I talk about him I tell her i miss him. And I love him so muc that it hurts. I go to the grave when i can and i dustit of while praying and talking and just hurting. I thank you.

I just came across your blog for the first time, and it has already touched me so much! Everything from your Compassion trip, photos, and video to your posts about your sweet baby and about loss in general. I have had 2 traumatic miscarriages - not stillbirths, like you, but still devistating - and they have opened the door for me to grieve with those that grieve. I have been honored to be a part of the lives of several women that have had miscarriages and have had stillborn babies since then in addition to other types of loss. I am anxious to read more of your insights and to pass your blog along to my friends that find themselves in the whilwind of painful loss. God bless you for sharing!

Wow. Just wow. As someone who lost a child at 3.5 months old your post brought me chills and tears and a smile. If only we all had friends like yours.

Molly.

What great, great advice. I would have been moved to tears as well. That was someone willing to be affected at a dangerous level by grief. That was love and I'm so glad you recognized it as the gift it is.

I will remember this advice in the future for sure. I have a little guy in heaven, and I know how lonely grief can be--partly because people are afraid of facing the pain themselves, and partly cause noone can truly understand unless they've been there. But reading a book...what an act of companionship in the pain.
